AnachronismAnachronism - Sword 51 The only pre-Columbian weapon I can find that was similar to a sword was the macuahuitl which was made with a plank of wood similar in shape to a cricket bat with obsidian blades mounted on the edges. It is similar enough to a sword that it is often referred to as the Aztec sword. However, the macuahuitl does not seem to fit the Book of Mormon time frame. “Some groups of Central Mexico, principally in the transition between the Early and the Late Post-Classic, probably developed this weapon” (emphasis added, Dr. Marco Antonio Cervera Obregón, “The macuahuitl: an innovative weapon of the Late Post-Classic in Mesoamerica”, Arms & Armour, Vol.3, Nov. 2, 2006, p. 146, article from a research journal). The Post-Classic period is between 900 CE and the Spanish conquest.
6 And thus, when Moroni had gathered together whatsoever men he could in all his march, he came to the land of Gideon; and uniting his forces with those of Pahoran they became exceedingly strong, even stronger than the men of Pachus, who was the king of those dissenters who had driven the freemen out of the land of Zarahemla and had taken possession of the land. | 6 |

9 And the men of Pachus received their trial, according to the law, and also those king-men who had been taken and cast into prison; and they were executed according to the law; yea, those men of Pachus and those king-men, whosoever would not take up arms in the defence of their country, but would fight against it, were put to death. | 9 |

19 Now Moroni was desirous that the Lamanites should come out to battle against them, upon the plains; but the Lamanites, knowing of their exceedingly great courage, and beholding the greatness of their numbers, therefore they durst not come out against them; therefore they did not come to battle in that day. | 19 |
20 1 Verses 20-21 contain a narrative passage that is quite similar to one found in the KJV 1 Samuel 26:12-13. Compare how both military leaders, "David" / "Moroni", leave their troops late at night to personally spy on the enemy position, how David "stood on the top of an hill" / how Captain Moroni "came upon the top of the wall", and how both, when speaking of the enemy troops, state "they were all asleep". Note that the phrase "all asleep" is unique within the KJV bible.

22 1 Verses 22,24-25 all seem to contain rare phrases from the same KJV bible verse, Revelation 11:13. There is only one verse in the KJV bible where the phrase "part of the city" is used, Revelation 11:13. There are 9 verses in the bible that use the word "affrighted," but only 3 of them use "were affrighted." One of those three verses is Revelation 11:13. Notice how both Alma 62:25 and Revelation 11:13 mention many people being slain and the remainder, or remnant, then doing something. This is quite the coincidence for these verses in such close proximity to share so many unique / rare phrases with one verse in the book of Revelation.
23 1 How likely is it that there was not a single guard who noticed the armies sneaking into the city over the walls until morning came?

29 Therefore, all the prisoners of the Lamanites did join the people of Ammon, and did begin to labor exceedingly, tilling the ground, raising all manner of grain, and flocks and herds of every kind; and thus were the Nephites relieved from a great burden; yea, insomuch that they were relieved from all the prisoners of the Lamanites. | 29 |
30 Now it came to pass that Moroni, after he had obtained possession of the city of Nephihah, having taken many prisoners, which did reduce the armies of the Lamanites exceedingly, and having regained many of the Nephites who had been taken prisoners, which did strengthen the army of Moroni exceedingly; therefore Moroni went forth from the land of Nephihah to the land of Lehi. | 30 |

35 And thus they did encamp for the night. For behold, the Nephites and the Lamanites also were weary because of the greatness of the march; therefore they did not resolve upon any stratagem in the night-time, save it were Teancum; for he was exceedingly angry with Ammoron, insomuch that he considered that Ammoron, and Amalickiah his brother, had been the cause of this great and lasting war between them and the Lamanites, which had been the cause of so much war and bloodshed, yea, and so much famine. | 35 |
36 And it came to pass that Teancum in his anger did go forth into the camp of the Lamanites, and did let himself down over the walls of the city. And he went forth with a cord, from place to place, insomuch that he did find the king; and he did cast a javelin at him, which did pierce him near the heart. But behold, the king did awaken his servants before he died, insomuch that they did pursue Teancum, and slew him. | 36 1 This narrative verse contains several similarities to the stories of the woman Rahab from Jericho and also Saul as found in the KJV Old Testament. Compare this verse with "did let himself down over the walls of the city. And he went forth with a cord" to Joshua 2:15-16 with "let them down by a cord through the window: for her house was upon the town wall". Note that in both this verse and Joshua 2:16 they also mention the enemy persuing after the good guys. Also compare this verse with "he did cast a javelin at him" to 1 Samuel 20:33 with "And Saul cast a javelin at him to smite him". Note that there are only 2 KJV bible verses with cast+javelin in the same verse (the verse in 1 Samuel 20 and in the less similar 1 Samuel 18:11). |
37 Now it came to pass that when Lehi and Moroni knew that Teancum was dead they were exceedingly sorrowful; for behold, he had been a man who had fought valiantly for his country, yea, a true friend to liberty; and he had suffered very many exceedingly sore afflictions. But behold, he was dead, and had gone the way of all the earth. | 37 |

41 But behold, because of the exceedingly great length of the war between the Nephites and the Lamanites many had become hardened, because of the exceedingly great length of the war; and many were softened because of their afflictions, insomuch that they did humble themselves before God, even in the depth of humility. | 41 |
42 And it came to pass that after Moroni had fortified those parts of the land which were most exposed to the Lamanites, until they were sufficiently strong, he returned to the city of Zarahemla; and also Helaman returned to the place of his inheritance; and there was once more peace established among the people of Nephi. | 42 |
