2 1 Verses 2-4 have strong parallels to a pair of passages at the beginning of KJV Acts. Compare verses 2,3 each with "it was noised abroad" to Acts 2:6 with "Now when this was noised abroad". Note that the phrase "noised abroad" only occurs twice within the KJV bible. Next compare verse 4 with "when the multitude was gathered together" to Acts 2:6 again with "the multitude came together". Also note that there are only 11 KJV verses that contain both multitude+together . Lastly compare verses 3,4 with "Jesus should show himself... the disciples whom Jesus had chosen" to Acts 1:2-3 with "the apostles whom he had chosen:... he shewed himself". Note that there are only 3 instances of "had chosen" in the KJV bible. Also note that there are only 10 variations of "shew himself" ("shew himself" = 4 instances, "shewed himself" = 4 instances, and "shewing himself" = 2 instances) within the KJV bible. It is strange that Mormon's narrative seems so similar to one narrow portion of the narrative in Acts.
3 Yea, and even all the night it was noised abroad concerning Jesus; and insomuch did they send forth unto the people that there were many, yea, an exceedingly great number, did labor exceedingly all that night, that they might be on the morrow in the place where Jesus should show himself unto the multitude. | 3 1 Verses 2-4 have strong parallels to a pair of passages at the beginning of KJV Acts. 4 And it came to pass that on the morrow, when the multitude was gathered together, behold, Nephi and his brother whom he had raised from the dead, whose name was Timothy, and also his son, whose name was Jonas, and also Mathoni, and Mathonihah, his brother, and Kumen, and Kumenonhi, and Jeremiah, and Shemnon, and Jonas, and Zedekiah, and Isaiah--now these were the names of the disciples whom Jesus had chosen--and it came to pass that they went forth and stood in the midst of the multitude. | 4 1 Verses 2-4 have strong parallels to a pair of passages at the beginning of KJV Acts. 11 1 In 3 Nephi 7:23-25 we learn that in the 33rd year since the sign of the Savior’s birth, Nephi and others he had ordained had already been baptizing those who repented. I think it safe to assume that Nephi would also have already been baptized since he was the leader out doing all of this, yet within a short time frame (year or less) he is baptized again. Why? Some church leaders explain that it is because Jesus had just organized his Church anew. So, why would that require a new baptism?

15 1 Verses 15,18,20-23 seems to borrow extensively from the middle chapters of KJV Gospel of John. First compare verses 15,18 with "ministering unto the disciples, behold, Jesus came and stood in the midst... calling him their Lord and their God" to John 20:19,28 with "the disciples were assembled for fear of the Jews, came Jesus and stood in the midst,... said unto him, My Lord and my God". Second compare verse 20 with "that I have chosen them out of the world" to John 15:19 with "but I have chosen you out of the world". Note that there are only 5 instances of the phrase "out of the world" within the KJV bible, with the instance in John chapter 15 being the only one containing any variation of "chosen". Third compare verse 21 with "I pray... unto all them that shall believe in their words" to John 17:20 with "pray I... but for them also which shall believe on me through their word". Next compare verse 22 with "that they believe in me because thou hearest them" to John 11:42 with "thou hearest me always: but because of the people which stand by I said it, that they may believe". Note that the phrase "thou hearest" only occurs 6 times within the KJV bible. Last compare verse 23 with "I pray unto thee for them, and also for all those who shall believe on their words, that they may believe in me, that I may be in them as thou, Father, art in me, that we may be one" to John 17:20-21 with "Neither pray I for these alone, but for them also which shall believe on me through their word; That they all may be one; as thou, Father, art in me, and I in thee, that they also may be one in us: that the world may believe". If these are really just the words of Jesus, repeated by him to the Nephites, how likely is it that so much of it would be similar to his words in just the middle chapters of the Gospel of John.

25 And it came to pass that Jesus blessed them as they did pray unto him; and his countenance did smile upon them, and the light of his countenance did shine upon them, and behold they were as white as the countenance and also the garments of Jesus; and behold the whiteness thereof did exceed all the whiteness, yea, even there could be nothing upon earth so white as the whiteness thereof. | 25 |

35 1 3 Ne 19:35-36 Jesus tells the disciples that the faith of the Nephites is so great, greater than the faith ever demonstrated by the Jews, that he was able to show them miracles that are greater than those he’s shown to the Jews. Consider what brought the Nephites to such a great faith at this point. They witnessed Jesus’ destruction of the wicked by demolition of entire cities (so their society’s faith was no longer diluted by these wicked), great natural calamities of greater than Biblical proportion, darkness so thick it even prevented the lighting of fire for three days; a group of 2,500 heard a small voice that pierced them to the very center; Jesus descended out of the sky before this group; each of the 2,500 saw and touched his wounds; and Jesus healed all their sick and injured.
