And as these plates are small, and as these things are written for the intent of the benefit of our brethren the Lamanites, wherefore, it must needs be that I write a little; but I shall not write the things of my prophesying, nor of my revelations. For what could I write more than my fathers have written? For have not they revealed the plan of salvation? I say unto you, Yea; and this sufficeth me. | Textual Parallels 21 The end of this verse, which was supposedly written by Jarom, has strong parallels to John 14:8. Note that the word "sufficeth" is unique in the KJV bible. The stranger thing, though, is that at the end of the last verse of the previous chapter (Enos 1:27), which was supposedly written by Enos, there is another strong parallel to another verse in that same chapter of John (John 14:2). |
Behold, it is expedient that much should be done among this people, because of the hardness of their hearts, and the deafness of their ears, and the blindness of their minds, and the stiffness of their necks; nevertheless, God is exceedingly merciful unto them, and has not as yet swept them off from the face of the land. | 3 |
Textual Parallels 41 The word "communion" is found only within 3 KJV bible verses, but only 2 Corinthians 13:14 speaks about a communion that relates to the Holy Ghost. The phrase "maketh manifest" occurs only once in the bible, in 2 Corinthians 2:14. It is strange that both of these unique parallels are found within the same book of scripture and the same verse in Jarom. It almost makes us wonder if Paul sent an additional copy of his epistle back in time and across the ocean to the Nephites.
1 One of the few mentions of keeping the law of Moses, and it’s not specific. In fact, the Book of Mormon does not list any of the feasts, purification rites, and almost no sacrifices. The text reads much more like an account of Christians in Judea during New Testament times.

And it came to pass that they came many times against us, the Nephites, to battle. But our kings and our leaders were mighty men in the faith of the Lord; and they taught the people the ways of the Lord; wherefore, we withstood the Lamanites and swept them away out of our lands, and began to fortify our cities, or whatsoever place of our inheritance. | 7 |
And we multiplied exceedingly, and spread upon the face of the land, and became exceedingly rich in gold, and in silver, and in precious things, and in fine workmanship of wood, in buildings, and in machinery, and also in iron and copper, and brass and steel, making all manner of tools of every kind to till the ground, and weapons of war--yea, the sharp pointed arrow, and the quiver, and the dart, and the javelin, and all preparations for war. | 8 1 There was no iron smelting in pre-Columbian Americas, so there would be no iron or steel (with the exception of a few iron artifacts found that were made from meteorite material). |

Wherefore, the prophets, and the priests, and the teachers, did labor diligently, exhorting with all long-suffering the people to diligence; teaching the law of Moses, and the intent for which it was given; persuading them to look forward unto the Messiah, and believe in him to come as though he already was. And after this manner did they teach them. | Textual Parallels 111 There are only 2 instances of "all longsuffering" in the KJV bible, both in epistles to Timothy. However only 2 Timothy 4:2 contains the unique phrase "exhort with all longsuffering". It is amazing how Jarom knew this phrase so long before it was written in the New Testament. |
