Now, LDS leaders won’t tell us who the Lamanites are. Just who is it that Mormon is speaking to? | |

3 1 This verse contains contains elements that are similar to several specific KJV verses. Compare this verse with "that ye must come unto repentance" to 2 Peter 3:9 with "that all should come to repentance". Note that there is only 1 instance of "come to repentance" and 0 instances of "come unto repentance" in the KJV bible. Next compare this verse with "or ye cannot be saved" to Acts 15:1 and Acts 27:31 with "ye cannot be saved". Note that there are only 2 instances of the phrase "cannot be saved" in the KJV bible, which are the two verses in Acts. | |

8 1 “If ye believe that [the Bible] ye will believe this [Book of Mormon].” According to this, if the Lamanites believe in the Bible, they will believe in the Book of Mormon. Since we don’t know who the Lamanites are, we don’t have a way to determine whether this seems accurate or not. | |
9 1 This verse imitates the style of one particular KJV New Testament verse. Compare this verse with "For behold, this is written for the intent that ye may believe that;" to John 20:31 with "But these are written, that ye might believe that...". Note that there are only 3 instances of the phrase "that ye might believe" and only 1 instance of "that ye may believe" in the KJV bible. Mormon's logic in this verse also resembles the logic found in John 5:47. 1 Mormon 7:8-9
“If ye believe that [the Bible] ye will believe this [Book of Mormon].”
According to this, if the Lamanites believe in the Bible, they will believe in the Book of Mormon. Since we don’t know who the Lamanites are, we don’t have a way to determine whether this seems accurate or not. | |
