1 And now, my son, I have somewhat more to say unto thee than what I said unto thy brother; for behold, have ye not observed the steadiness of thy brother, his faithfulness, and his diligence in keeping the commandments of God? Behold, has he not set a good example for thee?

2 For thou didst not give so much heed unto my words as did thy brother, among the people of the Zoramites. Now this is what I have against thee; thou didst go on unto boasting in thy strength and thy wisdom.

Also compare verse 3 with "thou didst forsake the ministry,... after the harlot Isabel" to Revelation 2:4,20 with "thou hast left thy first love" and "thou sufferest that woman Jezebel,... to teach and to seduce my servants to commit fornication". “Isabel” is the usual form of the English name Elizabeth in Spain and Portugal.

Apparently, these names are derived from the Hebrew “Elisheba” (also spelled Elisheva).

In a Lamanite-to-English translation process, what would be the significance of translating a Lamanite name into a Spanish or Portuguese form of the English name Elizabeth?

Is it possible that Joseph was influenced by the biblical name, “Jezebel” which, according to Wikipedia, “In some interpretations, her dressing in finery and putting on makeup led to the association of the use of cosmetics with ‘painted women’ or prostitutes”?

Various leaders and current manuals and publications of the Church teach that any form of sexual impurity (even impure sexual thoughts) is in this category—being exceeded only by things like murdering innocent persons. Modern prophets have gone as far as to teach that it is better for a person to die than to lose virtue through sexual misconduct.

12 And now the Spirit of the Lord doth say unto me: Command thy children to do good, lest they lead away the hearts of many people to destruction; therefore I command you, my son, in the fear of God, that ye refrain from your iniquities;

This verse contains parallels to two KJV New Testament verses. Compare this verse with "acknowledge your faults" to James 5:16 with "Confess your faults". Note that there are only 2 instances of "your faults" in the KJV bible (and no instances of "thy faults" or "thine faults") with the verse in James being the only close match.

Also compare this verse with "that wrong which ye have done" to Colossians 3:25 with "the wrong which he hath done". Also note that a KJV search (see wrong+which+done) demonstrates that this by far the closest variant.
