And now it came to pass that after the people of Ammon were established in the land of Jershon, and a church also established in the land of Jershon, and the armies of the Nephites were set round about the land of Jershon, yea, in all the borders round about the land of Zarahemla; behold the armies of the Lamanites had followed their brethren into the wilderness. | 1 |

1 Compare verse 3 with "there was a tremendous slaughter among the people of Nephi" to 1 Samuel 4:17 "there hath been also a great slaughter among the people". Note that of the 15 instances of "great slaughter" in the KJV bible, only the verse in 1 Samuel 4 also mentions the slaughter happening among a people.

And this is the account of Ammon and his brethren, their journeyings in the land of Nephi, their sufferings in the land, their sorrows, and their afflictions, and their incomprehensible joy, and the reception and safety of the brethren in the land of Jershon. And now may the Lord, the Redeemer of all men, bless their souls forever. | 8 |

And the bodies of many thousands are laid low in the earth, while the bodies of many thousands are moldering in heaps upon the face of the earth; yea, and many thousands are mourning for the loss of their kindred, because they have reason to fear, according to the promises of the Lord, that they are consigned to a state of endless wo. | Endless/Eternal Punishment 111 According to D&C 19:6-12 the words “endless” and “eternal” do not mean without end when it comes to “endless torment” or “eternal damnation”. These verses in the D&C explain that these words are used because, “it is more express than other scriptures, that it might work upon the hearts of the children of men.” When people read these words in the Book of Mormon, how do they likely understand the words “endless” and “eternal”? Is this honest communication if D&C 19 reveals the actual meaning of these words? |

1 Compare how verse 13 speaks about the devil and that "he hath devised to ensnare" to both 1 Timothy 3:7 and 2 Timothy 2:26 with "the snare of the devil". Note that these are the only two verses in the KJV bible that contain a combination of both "snare" and "devil" (see snare+devil).
